Random Ramblings

First of all, this fall weather is absolutely WONDERFUL! Our summer here was so super hot and miserable...Caiden, Levi and I were cramped up in this house all summer because of the heat, and it's been so nice to open the windows, turn off the air conditioning, and take walks without falling over due to a heatstroke!

So much to do, so little time. I'm relieved that the boys' room is finished and that the baby's room is thoroughly cleaned out and painted...now I just have to wait for my shower and can I finish up! However, I still feel a little stressed with everything there is to do to prepare for another baby in the house. Oh well, I'm sure it will all get done eventually!

Hunting season is upon us...poor Daniel hasn't had much luck and our freezer is still empty. Hopefully in the next few weeks he will be able to fill it back up! I am looking forward to getting to go hunting sometime soon...although I don't know when that will be with everything going on! I literally have ZERO free weekends until after Thanksgiving...and I'm sure between now and then those weekends will fill up too.

Football season is here...Caiden is doing well, but I don't think he really enjoys it like he thought he would. I just don't see much enthusiasm from him when he plays. He is looking forward to basketball season...hopefully he'll have a bit more fun with that! He is doing GREAT in school...his behavior has really improved since last year and he made all B's on his progress report. I know he is capable of A's, which is frustrating, but I am trying my best to be patient with him and try to encourage him to always give 110% versus "just enough to get by", which is usually what he does. Guess he is a lot like his momma was in school!

I have big plans for Levi in the near future...and I know I am probably taking on too much (not probably, DEFINITELY). He is such a super smart little thing, and since daycare and preschool aren't really financially doable right now, I have decided to start "preschool homeschool" with him. At first I thought that there was no way I could do it since I already don't have any time for my own schoolwork, but recently I became aware that Levi sits in front of the TV entirely too much, and at the end of the day I always feel guilty that I didn't spend enough time with him. Sooooo, as a parent (especially a stay at home parent), it's MY job to teach him and prepare him. So that's what I'm going to do! I found a program that only requires about a hour a day to teach the material, and the supplemental curriculum can be incorporated into the rest of the day's activities (such as cooking, cleaning, outside play, etc.) Anyway...I won't go too far into it in this post, as I haven't done all my research yet. I'm really looking forward to it though...I think it will be great for Levi to get some hands on learning activities, and it will be a good way for him and I to spend some quality time together.

I am also working with Caiden on some things, more about that later!!

Random Updates

What a summer it's been! I have to say that it has completely flown by, and although I am looking forward to getting back into a routine with school and fall sports, I have had such a wonderful time hanging out with the boys at home. I'm really going to miss the freedom of going here and there and everywhere without time constraints, and I know going into the third grade is going to be a huge transition for Caiden. This is the year when end of grade testing begins, and I have heard that it's brutal.

Luckily, we still have about 2 more weeks before school is back in session, and we have some things coming up that I am really looking forward to. We have a beach trip planned, and my brother who lives in Thailand is on his way here to spend a few weeks with us. So excited!

In baby news...our little bundle of joy is a girl (YAY!) and is growing and developing right on target. Every time I go to the doctor and hear that little heartbeat it puts a huge smile on my face and I heave a huge sigh of relief. I am going Wednesday for another ultrasound, and hopefully I can get some pictures printed and posted on here.

On a slightly more depressing note, I went to see my hematologist this morning and found out that I am going to have to go through at least one round of steroids to (hopefully) keep my TTP under control. For those of you that don't know, back in 2005 I was diagnosed with an immune disorder called Thrombotic Thombocytopenic Purpura. Extremely long story short, TTP causes your body to attack itself and your platelets drop causing a whole bunch of issues. Luckily, it was caught in time back in 2005 and I made a full recovery. I have been one of the lucky ones in the fact that I have avoided any relapses. Pregnancy tends to be a trigger for the disease, and I have made it through one successful pregnancy and delivered a beautiful, happy and healthy little boy. This time, however, I guess the cards aren't really in my favor and my doctor thinks that I am at a higher risk for relapse. In an effort to keep my counts up, he put me on a round of high dose steroids. Hopefully this will raise my levels and keep me out of the woods of a relapse. In that, I am happy. However, I am completely upset that it's come down to having to do it. When I had my initial episode I was put on high dose steroids and the side effects were complete and utter hell. I gained so much weight (my family likes to joke that I looked like Gwyneth Paltrow in Shallow Hal) and I was so self conscious about it. They made my joints feel like they were those of a 100 year old woman, and the night sweats, insomnia, and hot flashes were almost unbearable. I am really hoping that only one round will do the trick and maybe I can avoid all the nasty side effects. If not, hopefully my family will be understanding enough to not tie me to a post outside until the meds wear off ;)

So...I know I have exhibited terrible blogging ettiquette by neglecting to post more often and for that I apologize! I hope all of my readers have enjoyed their summer as much as we have...back to the daily grind pretty soon. Ugh!

I've Been Keeping a Secret...Baby Makes 5!

Yup, you all guessed it...I know, I'm not very good at giving hints :) We're pregnant again! We've been keeping it a secret because we wanted to make it out of the first trimester before spilling the beans. I turned 14 weeks on Tuesday, and we've heard a healthy little beating heart several times since finding out. I definitely feel very much pregnant...I've been wrapped around the toilet for about 8 weeks and slowly but surely my pants are getting a little bit tighter. Both good signs!

This pregnancy was kind of a surprise...after our miscarriage in March, Daniel and I decided that we were going to wait a little while to let ourselves heal. Apparently life had other plans, and after the "oops, we did it again!"....we couldn't be more excited!

We've decided that this is going to be our last baby, so I am keeping my fingers crossed for a little mini me. However, another little man would be just as good! I can definitely see myself with three rowdy boys, and it would be so much easier...we still have all the little baby boy stuff from Levi. If it is a little girl we'll be starting from scratch in that department. Either way I will be just as happy. Daniel, on the other hand, is terrified of having a teenage girl in the house, so I think he is biting his nails and wishing on every star that we see another little mini-him on our next ultrasound!

So....there's my secret!! :)

I've Been Keeping a Secret...

Hellooooo out there!! How have you all been? I believe it's been about 3 months since my last post...I know, I have such terrible blog etiquette. How can I expect any of you to keep following me if I take a 3 month hiatus? I do have good excuses, I really do! The first excuse is a selfish one...I took the summer off of school and I have been thoroughly enjoying sleeping as late as the boys do, hanging out at the pool, taking naps, and just enjoying my break. Although it might sound like our days are slow paced...they're not....another reason for my severe blog neglect. I have been running around like a mad woman (when I'm not out like a light, drooling on the couch around noon) taking Caiden here and there and everywhere. He has swim practice every day and he has had meets every week as well (I'm super excited to share a post about all of his improvements and accomplishments in the pool this summer!). I'm also still working at the YMCA two mornings a week (ugh...not a fun experience...be looking for a post about my uncontrollable two year old) and I have been trying to get Levi potty trained which thankfully is going quite well. In the midst of all of this, we have had a vacation planning disaster, a money catastrophe and I am still a wife who has a husband who needs her. The bills still have to be paid, the house cleaned, the laundry done, the kiddos fed....blah, blah, blah. :)

So anyway...onto the whole point of this post.

I've been keeping a secret...

Do YOU know what it is?

It's exciting...

...It makes me happy...

....and I believe it's safe to say that my life will only get a bit more hectic...

Why I've been MIA

In case my {few} readers have been wondering why I have been MIA lately, I thought I'd give you my schedule for today...

6 AM - Woke up, had my coffee, woke up Caiden, fixed his breakfast, made Daniel's lunch, packed a lunch for me and Levi
7 AM - Took a shower, packed Caiden's bookbag, got ready, made Levi's breakfast, washed a load of clothes, folded a load of clothes, cleaned the boys' bathroom, swept the floor, cleaned up the kitchen from last night's supper, cleaned up the living room
9 AM - 1 PM - Worked in the nursery at the YMCA
1:30 PM - Went to Walmart, got some lunch, read 1 chapter in my history textbook while Levi took a nap in the car and we waited for Caiden to get out of school
3 PM - Washed, folded, and put away a load of laundry, packed Caiden's swim bag and baseball bag. Now....taking a break and writing this {short} post then....
4 PM - Grabbing an early dinner for the boys, working at the YMCA until 7:00 while Caiden is at swim practice
7 PM - Head to ball field for the THIRD game this week
9 PM - Back home, baths, and {ahhhhhh....} bedtime

As you can see...I've been super busy!! On top of taking on this new part time job, I have 2 weeks left in the semester and I have been trying to get my assignments done while studying for finals. So for those of you that faithfully read my blog (if there are any of you out there!!), I'm very sorry that I've neglected you. I have several posts I'm looking forward to getting to soon (yes Amanda, I promise I will get "The House That Built Me" up ASAP!). Hopefully once this semester is over I'll feel a little less stressed! In the meantime...have a great evening!!

I'm Literally Wordless Wednesday... :)

I am having writer's block, apparently. I have started about 5 posts this week but the words just aren't flowing like they usually do. Maybe soon I'll find a way to get all my thoughts out without sounding like it was written by a kindergardener. In the meantime...enjoy some random pictures. Have a great Wednesday!

I LOVE spring! Nothing better than putting on my flip flops and heading outside after months and months of cabin fever.

Levi's Birthday Party

It has been a crazy couple of weeks! Swimming, visiting family, baseball, homework, and birthday parties have stuffed my schedule and kept me away from my blog. I have so much to write about, and I'm worried that if I don't hurry that I will never do it! I am going to start with Levi's birthday party since it's fresh in my mind and I've already sorted through all of the pictures.

The weather was beautiful! We had hot dogs, chili, slaw, chips, Nana's awesome pasta salad, and cake and ice cream of course. Levi was a little grumpy, but he still had a blast. We stayed outside all day long and played in the batting cage, played volleyball, blew bubbles, played in the sand, and hung out with the family. Levi (and all the other kids!) had a blast on Levi's new power wheels. I feel terrible because we didn't get any photos of Caiden and Kelin...but they were MIA pretty much the whole party. You know how boys are!

Levi had a meltdown when everyone started singing happy birthday...too funny!!

I can't believe Levi is already 2! Time goes by so fast. I'm so happy that he has such a loving and supportive family. Thank you all so much for coming to his party. We love you!!
